‘I Want Bigger Breast To Make Me Look Sexier’ — Coco Ice

Currently creating huge buzz and making waves in the music industry is a sexy and highly talented Femcee, Coco Ice.
Born Mojisola Sarah Sowole, Coco Ice is getting loads of attention with just two official singles and a music video released into the market (her second video, It's Me will drop in few days) and these have promptly shot up her profile.
In this exclusive interview with TS Weekend, the Ogun State-born rap star spoke passionately about her music, person and her immediate and future dreams.
There's so much hype and publicity going on about your forth-coming music video, It's Me. Can you give an insight into what to expect?
You are so right. My first video, If U Don't Know was really an upscale for a fresh artiste and got rave review from many music critics. It was really lauded and this I believed put my management and me in a very tight corner. We just really want to surpass the success of the first video and make a lasting impression. Mattmax came up with the concept after my management gave him the song to listen to, and he decided to shoot with the state-of-the-art RED One Mysterium X which has higher resolution and cinematic effect than the regular Canon cameras most artistes currently use to shoot their musical videos. So, expect to see fresh and crispy clear pictures, and tight concepts.
How has the journey been so far?
Well, it's not a new terrain, just that things are kinda moving so fast now. I have a strong team and management I'm working with and this is making me to enjoy every bit of it as I now have enough time to concentrate on my music and the creativity part. So, it's been a sort of roller-coaster ride for me.
You also have a single out, Rock me. What inspires the song?
I decided to do something for the guys out there and flip the script because it is the guys that sing most times for we ladies. You know your song needs to be topical and have direction. I just thought it won't be bad singing for the dudes and this brought about Rock Me (Bad Guy). Though, nothing too explicit or sensual, just a dedication to all the 'bad guys' out there.
Before Rock Me (Bad Guy), what other songs did you have?
I dropped It's Me some few months ago, which is more like my debut official single. It is more of an intro into what CocoIce is. You know I do rap, skank and I sing. I am very versatile in all genres of music.
What prompted your foray into music?
I started out by writing poetry, and this greatly helped me into turning into a lyricist though I started out miming to hit rap songs. I started professionally in 2005 when I recorded my first single, Get Nutty, which featured May D. The song had massive airplay at the time. That really ignites the fire in me and encouraged me to pursue music as a career.
How did you come up with the name, CocoIce?
Many people have asked me this, and let me use this medium to clarify that it has nothing to do with the American couple, Ice and Coco (smiles). Though, the name seems 'controversial' as in people linking it to the couple, and this is surely getting me attention, which I truly like. To answer your question, I pick up the name from the two words, Coco and Ice. Coco is gotten from Coconut which we all know is hard and rough on the outside but clean and pure original on the outside which is quite similar to who I am today. I've gone through hard and rough times and still able to deliver good music! Ice, as in breaking the ice, you hitting the right spot and breaking new grounds in your endeavour and that's me in total. It hasn't been easy. But for the Ice, it simply means, breaking new ground. I was formerly known as Mo'Black but I later found out that there are like two other Mo'Blacks. And there so many artistes using the 'Mo' thing, I just wanted a fresh and unique identity that will stand me out and that's how CocoIce came about. The name also sounds chic or is it not?
Who are you feeling now?
Can't really get enough of Lil' Wayne. The dude is so sick and talented.
Who's your musical influence?
I'm greatly influenced by the likes of King Sunny Ade, 2face Idibia, D'banj, Mode 9, Ruggedman, Weird MC, Sasha, Wyclef Jean, Ercik Sermon, Lil' Wayne, and Nicki Minaj amongst others
What inspires your lyrics and music?
My environment. My moods. My lyrics are highly influenced by things around me, and sometimes stories that I heard or personal experiences, and God Himself is my greatest source of inspiration.
Obviously, the music industry has been male-dominated; do you think this is changing?
Things are gradually and steadily changing. We are having female artistes coming out to do their thing and as you can see that they are getting recognition by being called to feature in male songs, as in collaborations.
Currently in the Nigerian music scene, which Femcee do you consider your greatest competitor?
The truth is, I have no competitor. I'm just doing my thing and trying to carve a unique niche for myself.
Who is CocoIce?
CocoIce is a unique brand, a versatile Femcee, hip, trendy and highly ambitious.
Are you signed to any record label?
Not any at the moment but I have a management deal with MAGiKAL Entertainment.
If you have the opportunity to change a thing in your body, what would it be?
I will love to have a breast enlargement. I've been craving for it since I was a teenager.
And you think that will be cool?
Sure, it's going to be very cool and sexy. Guys drool over chics with big boobs.
What's your current size?
36.
Why do you crave bigger boobs?
Just to enhance my look and make me sexier and chic. I love well-rounded boobs.
Who are the women with 'heavy boobs' that you admire?
Hmmmnn! Nicki Minaj, Jenifer Lopez and Mercy Johnson to mention a few.
Have you considered the health implications?
Sure, but it's really no big deal as medicine is always advancing and techy.
What's style to you?
It's an expression of who you are.
So, what's your style?
I feel relaxed in jeans and leather jackets.
What are your favourite fashion pieces and accessories?
I love wristwatches, jewelries and costume accessories. My most prized fashion item is the Hublot wristwatch.
What's your family and educational background?
I'm from a family of four. I'm the first-born and the first daughter. My mum is late.
Aside music, are you engaged in any other thing?
Yes. I run an ushering/hostess' company called, Ushers Impeccable. My company provides top-notch ushers and hostesses for events and ceremonies.
How do you unwind?
I chill with my friends or go on sightseeing to relax my brain.
What are you currently working on?
I'm preparing for the shoot of Rock Me video and also working on two new singles, a dancehall track and another dance/party song, which I will want my fans to look out for. I'm also starting my media tour and promotional shows.
Where do you see CocoIce in a couple of years?
CocoIce is going places and by places I mean the world, the zenith. I'm aiming for the highest top. CocoIce is a brand so, I'm dreaming to be the best.

Africa Fashion Day brings continents closer...

Designs from Africa Fashion Day Berlin on Jan. 15.The diversity of high-quality modern African fashion has not been highly visible. During January’s Berlin Fashion Week, a so-far-unseen project emerged. They called it Africa Fashion Day Berlin.
This new platform presented itself from the center of Berlin on Jan. 15 at the prestigious Hotel Adlon Kempinski. Africa Fashion Day Berlin is a network for fashion designers with African, Afro-Caribbean and Afro-American backgrounds who live in Europe. It’s a platform that shows the wide variety of the new young, modern, global, high-end urban scene. In the U.S., Great Britain and Africa, African fashion is already a top seller. This season, they presented top designers, including Romero Bryan, Nomi by Naomi and Adam Paris in the runway show “Urban Fashion Night.”
With Africa Fashion Day Berlin, European and African influences are finally growing together, and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin offers the perfect framework for doing so. The featured designers are quite talented and noteworthy. Adam Paris showed a delightful collection. Romero Bryan featured a sexy, shapely line that’s sophisticated. Over the years, London has produced the most cutting-edge fashion to ever grace a catwalk. Bryan has catapulted London to rival Paris, Milan and New York as one of the fashion capitals of the world.
From a young age, London-born Bryan had aspirations to become a world-renowned fashion designer. He began his work at the age of 13. His love for fashion was inspired by his grandfather and uncles who were both tailors. He was also influenced by his grandmother, a seamstress. Bryan graduated from the London College of Fashion in late 2005. His work and designs have been worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Roland, Usher and Cameron Diaz.
Nomi By Naomi is a unique fashion label founded in 2008 by fashion designer Naomi Spieker. She hit the fashion market running, after her successful launch of a set of hooded scarves that became popular. Nom by Naomi developed a complete collection to fill your wardrobe. She combines the exceptional African style with the Western trends for the here and now. Offering a new blend of fabrics, style and color, her collection is best known as urban chic.

Aftershocks hamper relief in tsunami-hit Solomons

In this Wednesday Feb. 6, 2013 photo provided by World Vision, a woman stands next to her belongings she found along a beach at Venga village after tsunami hit Temotu province, Solomon Islands. The damage seen is part of a survey by the assessment crew of the aid organization World Vision. A strong aftershock rattled the Solomon Islands on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, hampering relief efforts to tsunami-ravaged villages and forcing the South Pacific nation's Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo to forgo a visit to the stricken area where nine deaths have been confirmed. A strong aftershock rattled the Solomon Islands on Friday, hampering relief efforts to tsunami-ravaged villages and forcing the South Pacific nation's prime minister to forgo a visit to the stricken area where nine deaths have been confirmed.
Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo was on a plane to Santa Cruz Island in the eastern Solomons to assess damage when the aftershock hit, said Silas Lilo, a spokesman for his office. The plane was forced to return to the capital Honiara.
Also aboard the 32-seater plane — the first to attempt to reach the island since the disaster — were shelter kits, water carriers, medical supplies and medical staff, said Andrew Catford, the Solomons country director for relief agency World Vision. The plane will try again to land on the island Friday afternoon, he said.
The 6.6-magnitude aftershock damaged roads on the island's main town of Lata and prevented aid workers already stationed there from reaching people on the coast, Catford said.
The aftershock, the most significant since the 8.0 earthquake that sparked Wednesday's tsunami, didn't produce any tsunami warnings itself.
"My staff said it felt stronger than the initial earthquake and people are very concerned. Most of Lata town was evacuated. It's like a ghost town," Catford said. "We've had over 115 aftershocks, but unlike all the others, this one moved vertically up and down. For the first time, it's created cracks in the roads."
Wednesday's earthquake triggered waves 1.5-meters (5-feet) tall that roared inland on Santa Cruz, damaging or destroying around 100 homes.
Catford said his agency now believes that 15 villages and about 6,000 people have been affected, many of them losing homes. Those estimates have risen from initial assessments, he said.
Five elderly villagers and a child who couldn't outrun the rushing water were killed, said George Herming, a spokesman for the prime minister. Three more bodies were found Thursday, but Herming said details of how those victims died were not immediately available.
A boat carrying relief officials was expected to reach Santa Cruz by Friday evening, Herming said.
The relentless aftershocks were forcing thousands of villagers who fled inland after the original quake to stay away from the coastline.
"Many of them have lost their homes and they have no shelter at the moment," Herming said. "They are still residing on high ground because of the fear of the aftershocks."
The Solomons comprise more than 200 islands with a population of about 552,000 people. They lie on the "Ring of Fire" — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones that stretches around the Pacific Rim and where about 90 percent of the world's quakes occur.
More than 50 people were killed and thousands lost their homes in April 2007 when a magnitude-8.1 quake hit the western Solomon Islands and a tsunami crashed into coastal villages.

5 THINGS TO DO ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON (more later)..

After reading a post on WordPress by Mr. Lee Iwan entitled “10 Things to do on a Friday afternoon,” I felt inspired and compelled to write this little post.  Mr. Iwan’s post depressed me.  On a Friday afternoon, all I want to do is get home so I can start my two days of freedom from work, worry, and stress.  (That’s the initial plan anyway.)  Mr. Iwan suggests that a Friday afternoon should be spent cleaning up your comptuer, organizing your desk at work, making lists for the following week of work, helping out co-workers.  I suppose all of this might be helpful and reasonable, but, let’s face it, it sucks.  TGIF was not made describing acts like cleaning up your desk and getting rid of extraneous files on your computer.  TGIF is a celebration of the fact that for two days I don’t have to be a slave to the job that’s paying my bills. (and of course this does not apply to those who work fulltime jobs (maybe two at time), seven days a week, because our stupid country can’t get it’s head out of it’s ass and raise the minimum wage.  I fully submit to the fact that this post applies to a certain class-level, and I am excluding other issues involving class–my bad.) Now don’t get me wrong–I love working  (so far), but I like my free time as well.  So instead of spending the beginning, middle, and end of my weekend worrying about the next week at work, I am presenting my own version of “5 Things To DO” that is more of a celebration of being able to spend two whole days doing whatever I want (that is within my budget of course).

Also, as a another disclosure, all of these things are things I like to do, and may not be appealing to anyone else but me.

1) Go Thrifting.  Thrifts stores are perfect for college/postgrads in that you can find relatively new things for your apartment/closet for cheap prices.  Thrift stores are myriad in most areas.  I find that most Good Will stores have a good stock of items.  I’ve found clothes with tags still on, window shopping, books I’ve wanted to read at very, very, very cheap prices, even going swimmming or to the movies.

2) Treat yourself to a nice meal.  Now, I don’t mean go out and spend all your money on a fancy dinner.  I have found that all week, I don’t get to have a meal that I get to sit down and enjoy.  While I am working, I am always eating stuff I have in my purse, or running into places and grabbing something I can scarf down quickly.  Then, when I get home in the evenings, I usually cook or throw something together.  However, on Saturdays, I see it as a chance to go to my favorite place to eat, order my favorite thing to eat (there or to go) and sit down and enjoy the fact that I didn’t have to cook it.

3) Be a Couch Potato. For some reason, most people have the mindset that they have to “do stuff” on the weekends.  The weekend should be full of all these fun activities.  I think it is perfectly okay to take a Saturday and do absolutely nothing with it.  For instance, instead of running around all Saturday, doing this and that, just get some comfy blankets and snuggle up on your couch in front of the TV or your DVD player.   Saturday is the day which most cable channels play movies all day, so just veg out in front of the TV and watch movies all day.  If you need food, you don’t have to go out.  Just order pizza, chinese, anything that can be brough to you, so you don’t have to move:).  If you feel guilty for being lazy, make someone else be lazy with you, and it will displace some of that guilt.

4) Actually give yourself as much time as you like to be active.  During the week, I find I am always squeezing in a walk, or a run, or some time at the gym.  I like to be active, but I find that the time is not always there.  So, on Saturday give yourself an hour, two hours, whatever you like to be active.  Take a long bike ride.  Take the dogs for a long walk.  Take your time at the gym.  When you know that you don’t have to be back any time soon, it makes the workout that much better.  Now, if it is extremely hot outside, as it has been recently in D-town, then I suggest taking another look at #3.  Nasty weather is the number one excuse for being lazy.

5) Make your rounds.  During the week, we may not get to see all the people we would actually like to see during the week.  Sometimes, after I come home from work all I want to do is sit, down and relax, not be social.  So, use the weekend to see all your friends/family.  They may even have better suggestions as to what to do on a Saturday afternoon

UNDERSTANDING BREAST CANCER..

MYTHS VS FACTS.

Myth 1: I'm too young to worry about Breast Cancer.
Fact: Though the diseases is most common in post-menopausal women, breast cancer can affect women of any age.

Myth 2: Breast cancer diagnosis = Death.
Fact: When caught early, breast cancer survival rate is very high. Early detection and treatment is key in surviving breast cancer.

Myth 3: If i have a lump, it is cancer.
Fact: Most breast lumps are benign (non-cancerous); however, ALL lumps must be checked. The percentage of benign breast lumps in older women may be much lower than in younger women. It is still important for women to report any breast abnormality to their physician.

Myth 4: Herbal remedies, dietary supplements OR alternative therapy can treat cancer.
Fact: This is one of the major misconceptions in out society and results in delayed treatment and sometimes death of breast cancer patients. No herbal remedy or the likes, has been scientifically proven to treat breast cancer. In actual fact, these may cause side effects and even accelerate the progression of the disease.

Myth 5: If I have surgery, my cancer will spread.
Fact: The only thing that will promote cancer spread is a delay in diagnosis and failure to treat the cancer.

Myth 6: Breast cancer is contagious.
Fact: Breast cancer is NOT contagious.

Myth 7: Radiation therapy kills. It will burn my heart, ribs and lungs.
Fact: Radiation techniques are safe and effective for treating breast cancer with few complications. Irritation of the skin or redness may occur but this will disappear post-treatment.

Myth 8: Breast cancer is preventable.
Fact: There is no known way to prevent breast cancer at this time. There are various factors that can increase your chances of developing breast cancer however avoiding these do not prevent you from getting the disease. These factors include: Obesity, high fat diets and alcohol.

Myth 9: Only women get breast cancer.
Fact: Men DO get breast cancer too, although rare.

Myth 10: Breast cancer always presents itself in the form of a lump.
Fact: Although a breast lump can indicate breast cancer including other non- cancerous conditions, there are many women that are diagnosed with breast cancer and DON'T have a noticeable lump.
