The maltitude..
The crowd..
With just two days to go until the presidential elections in Kenya, the candidates are campaigning hard with events all over the East African nation. On Sunday the top candidates Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, both attended a prayer meeting presided over by prophet David Owuor at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
At the event the two pledged to push for a peaceful election next week. The two candidates are closely tied in the polls and it is difficult to predict who will succeed President Mwai Kibaki following the elections.
The pledge for peace is a response to the local and international fears that there will be a repeat of the election violence which beset the country following the presidential elections in 2007. Those incidents left 1133 people dead and a further 350 000 dead. Kenyatta currently faces a charge of crimes against humanity in the International Criminal Court in The Hague, as a result of his role in fanning the flames of the 2007 violence that swept the country.
Kenyatta of the Jubilee Alliance said: "In 2007 and the events following it is (sic) now behind us. I know in my heart that we shall choose each other and we will have peace. I Uhuru Kenyatta swear before the true God and before all Kenyans that I will promote and preach peace at all times."
Odinga added: “Let us all embrace peace. We don't need to fight one another at all for whatever reason. We are all Kenyans. Let's choose our leaders peacefully. I urge you all to embrace peace."
God bless you Kenyans through out your elections.. :-)
