Careers have diversified with time. Today, career choices are more liberal and spontaneous. For instance, in previous decades, careers were limited to law, medicine, and teaching. Today, career choices extend to more artistic forms like dance, music, fashion and culinary arts. Before you make that career decision, you may want to think through these key notes;

A career is a life path
It becomes your lifestyle and definition -As such, it needs to be something you enjoy, are passionate about and are prepared to do for the rest of your life. Simply put, what makes you tick. What is the one cause that moves you and you would selflessly give yourself to?

Be prepared to grow.
Trends change and are dynamic. Your relevance in your career will be underpinned by you being up to speed with that is affecting the beneficiaries of your product/ service from your career. It will do you good to get mentorship and coaching from an expert in your field. This will enable you to offer practical solutions to your consumers.

Chart out a progression plan.
For you to become a guru in your field, you need to chart out a path to grow through. Commit to grow from raw talent, to competence, proffessionalish and finally mastery. Some companies have career progression provisions established. You need to satisfy the necessary conditions stipulated to get promoted from level to level. If a career progression chart is not available, then you will need to invest independently in your own career journey. This will mean taking courses and identifying a mentor to guide you through the ropes. Eventually, you may set up a shop in response to the urge to actualize your desire or newfound mastery in your field.

Put together and constantly grow as a brand
Yes! You are a brand. You have an agenda you are selling consciouly or not. Get curious and discover what exctatly you are about! What are your unique strengths and talents, what do you stand for, where are you investing these, how does that fit into your aspired career? Those done, invest in you. Read books to motivate and grow you towards the career direction you desire. Practise power dressing, public speaking, sales and networking. You will need these as you forge ahead in your career path.
